Hai friends
This is a freak incident that happened recently.
A young man and his 4 year old son went to a petrol bunk near Lalbagh (Bangalore) to fill in petrol for his bike. The boy was sitting on the pillion behind him.
The helper who fills petrol held the petrol gun upwards, and turned
towards the meter to re-set the meter. As soon as the setting was done
the petrol came out gushing out of the gun – due to some malfunction –
(at least that’s what they said) in full speed and splashed all over the
4 yr old boy and his father.
Petrol entered the eyes of the
boy. Immediately the boy was taken into the cleaning area and was
showered in a water jet. They washed his eyes with lot of water. But the
boy could not see anything.
The young man took the child to the
hospital and immediately the hospital authorities put him in ICU. The
kid was then transferred to Vittala Netralaya and after 2 days of
treatment he got some vision again. Now he is all right and is at home.
The doctors told that just because the water cleaning was done
immediately, he has vision today otherwise the boy would have been blind
by now. Petrol (along with impurities) can burn the tissues inside the
eye.
Now why am I posting this? Please take some precautions next time you are at a petrol bunk.
1. If the engine was in running condition, this could have caused a major Fire. So Switch off the engine in bunks.
2. Drop small kids and the person sitting behind you outside the bunk
and fill in petrol. Kids are more sensitive than grown ups.
3. Ask
the petrol bunk helper boy to hold the gun down. Even if there is such
an accident let the petrol flow down and not on your face.

Rumors have swirled for years about the mystical phone, which Facebook introduced at its headquarters today. For the financial sake of Facebook, it's imperative that the new phone -- manufactured by HTC, carried by AT&T and sporting an Android operating system -- sells well. At first blush, the new phone could find a receptive audience among the under-25 crowd, which is comfortable with having their mobile devices within reach at all times. As far as we know Google has never officially been part of a major product launch by Facebook, but given that this is an “Android event,” might someone from Mountain View join the Zuck on stage?
And what about a carrier partner? Facebook’s designs to become the primary conduit for communication on mobile devices probably scares the living daylights out of established telcos like AT&T and Verizon, who want to avoid being seen as dumb utilities offering little more than a data connection. So if Facebook wants to maintain diplomatic relations with the telco establishment, it might have a carrier representative or two on stage as well.
Then there’s Facebook Messenger. The real-time chat service is widely seen as an answer to the mobile messaging apps becoming wildly popular among young smartphone users. Youth, incidentally, are said to be leaving Facebook, perhaps because they see it as a place increasingly spammed by older people who have joined the network: eg. inspirational quotes superimposed on sunsets, stale memes, etc. Even Facebook said in its annual report in February 2013 that “younger users” were engaging in other products “as a substitute for Facebook.”
In the report it mentioned Instagram. But youth are really flocking to Snapchat, WhatsApp, GroupMe and Kik, real-time, messaging services that were born mobile, offer more privacy and are proactively partnering with telcos. Some are even selling games through their growing networks.
For Facebook to compete with that, it needs to show off a more appealing messaging service today. Perhaps it’ll be a revamped user interface to Facebook Messenger, or added functionality for sharing videos. Either way Facebook will want to bump up the 14% of smartphone users who use Facebook Messenger, according to researchers at Analysys Mason.
Facebook overall should show on Thursday that it is offering a more native mobile experience to help it engage further with its 1 billion+ global user base — and keep its investors happy. One of the big reasons why the company stumbled on its IPO were prevailing doubts about its mobile future. But mobile is crucial to Facebook’s ability to keep making money, and so far Facebook’s ad sales on mobile phones are looking promising. Research firm EMarketer said Wednesday that it expected Facebook to book $965 million in U.S. mobile ad revenue in 2013, more than double the $391 million it brought in the year before.
More people are now accessing Facebook on smartphones than they are on desktops. If Facebook can become the default communication platform for a smartphone, Analysys Mason says, it could increase its daily engagement with users six times over.

The uncertain origins of a foolish day
April Fools' Day, sometimes called All Fools' Day, is one of the most light-hearted days of the year. Its origins are uncertain. Some see it as a celebration related to the turn of the seasons, while others believe it stems from the adoption of a new calendar.
New Year's Day Moves
Ancient cultures, including those of the Romans and Hindus, celebrated New Year's Day on or around April 1. It closely follows the vernal equinox (March 20th or March 21st.) In medieval times, much of Europe celebrated March 25, the Feast of Annunciation, as the beginning of the new year.
In 1582, Pope Gregory XIII ordered a new calendar (the Gregorian Calendar) to replace the old Julian Calendar. The new calendar called for New Year's Day to be celebrated Jan. 1. That year, France adopted the reformed calendar and shifted New Year's day to Jan. 1. According to a popular explanation, many people either refused to accept the new date, or did not learn about it, and continued to celebrate New Year's Day on April 1. Other people began to make fun of these traditionalists, sending them on "fool's errands" or trying to trick them into believing something false. Eventually, the practice spread throughout Europe.
Problems With This Explanation
There are at least two difficulties with this explanation. The first is that it doesn't fully account for the spread of April Fools' Day to other European countries. The Gregorian calendar was not adopted by England until 1752, for example, but April Fools' Day was already well established there by that point. The second is that we have no direct historical evidence for this explanation, only conjecture, and that conjecture appears to have been made more recently.
Constantine and Kugel
Another explanation of the origins of April Fools' Day was provided by Joseph Boskin, a professor of history at Boston University. He explained that the practice began during the reign of Constantine, when a group of court jesters and fools told the Roman emperor that they could do a better job of running the empire. Constantine, amused, allowed a jester named Kugel to be king for one day. Kugel passed an edict calling for absurdity on that day, and the custom became an annual event.
"In a way," explained Prof. Boskin, "it was a very serious day. In those times fools were really wise men. It was the role of jesters to put things in perspective with humor."
This explanation was brought to the public's attention in an Associated Press article printed by many newspapers in 1983. There was only one catch: Boskin made the whole thing up. It took a couple of weeks for the AP to realize that they'd been victims of an April Fools' joke themselves.
Spring Fever
It is worth noting that many different cultures have had days of foolishness around the start of April, give or take a couple of weeks. The Romans had a festival named Hilaria on March 25, rejoicing in the resurrection of Attis. The Hindu calendar has Holi, and the Jewish calendar has Purim. Perhaps there's something about the time of year, with its turn from winter to spring, that lends itself to lighthearted celebrations.

April Fools' Day is observed throughout the Western world. Practices include sending someone on a "fool's errand," looking for things that don't exist; playing pranks; and trying to get people to believe ridiculous things.
The French call April 1 Poisson d'Avril, or "April Fish." French children sometimes tape a picture of a fish on the back of their schoolmates, crying "Poisson d'Avril" when the prank is discovered.
Steve Alford hires as basketball coach; he has big job ahead to do
Well, the Steve Alford hire at UCLA on Saturday morning became the biggest sports headline in a flash.
Nobody saw this coming. Alford had recently signed a 10-year extension at New Mexico. His son was set to come in and play as a Lobo. In recent gossip about the UCLA job, I couldn't count Alford's name coming up once since he signed the new deal. But so much for that.
A hiring at a top-10 school/job like UCLA will spur a lot of immediate reaction and opinion. I wanted to give you a glimpse of what a lot of people are saying about the hire. It is somewhat split. My thoughts, in short: it's not an upgrade from Howland. Did Ben have to go? I think so. But there's not much divergence of personality here. If anything, there's now a lowered bar of expectation, really. Alford is 5-7 in the NCAA tournament, hasn't reached a Sweet 16 in 14 years and isn't cozy with the media.
I think he can and will have some success, but I ultimately believe he'll be gone in less than seven years and UCLA won't be upped in prestige or profile when he leaves. I also don't think he takes it to a Final Four. And I think the fact the past two UCLA coaches, Steve Lavin and Howland, getting fired for making three Final Fours and eight regional semifinal appearances clashes with the philosophy to hire this man.

Steve Alford, who spent the last six seasons at New Mexico, will take over the basketball program at UCLA less than two weeks after saying how happy he was to be signing a contract extension to remain coach of the Lobos.
The hiring came at the end of a hectic week in which two other mid-major coaches — Butler's Brad Stevens and Virginia Commonwealth's Shaka Smart — said they weren't interested in the job, according to a person close to the situation who was not authorized to speak on the matter.
So Athletic Director Dan Guerrero turned to Alford, who agreed to be the latest coach to have John Wooden's hefty legacy placed on his back.
Alford has agreed to a seven-year, $18.2-million contract.
Alford was 155-52 at New Mexico, though his Lobos teams never made it past the first weekend in three NCAA tournament appearances. He had signed a 10-year contract extension, worth more than $20 million, earlier this month, but opted to take on the UCLA job.
"This is truly a leap of faith," said Alford, 48. "It's a little easier when it's UCLA. An opportunity like this doesn't come around every day."
With the opportunity comes expectations.
Guerrero said that Alford had the pedigree to handle what has crushed other coaches at UCLA. Alford was Indiana "Mr. Basketball" at New Castle Chrysler High. He played at Indiana, under Bob Knight, and won a national championship in 1987.
"I don't think there is anyone better suited for the pressures that come with the job than Steve," Guerrero said.
Alford won three Mountain West Conference titles with New Mexico. But he has taken a team beyond the first weekend in the NCAA tournament only once in his career — Cinderella Southwest Missouri State, which reached the Sweet 16 in 1999.
The Lobos were 29-6 this season and were seeded third in the NCAA West Regional, but lost to 14th-seeded Harvard in their first tournament game. UCLA's first-game loss to Minnesota of the Big Ten was unacceptable to many Bruins fans.
Alford had a 61-67 record in the Big Ten during eight seasons at Iowa. His teams placed higher than fourth only once and reached the NCAA tournament three times. It was a learning experience, he said.
"I learned the difference, where schools are and how they are tiered at the BCS level, to use an old term," Alford said.
Putting UCLA on a tier Bruins fans expect will require re-establishing the program's recruiting muscle in the Los Angeles area. Alford had success recruiting the area at New Mexico, landing Tony Snell (Riverside King) and Kendall Williams (Rancho Cucamonga Los Osos).
UCLA officials were looking for more than a coach. They were looking for a marketing campaign.
Selling season tickets, which can include a hefty donation to the Wooden Athletic Fund, has been difficult. The Bruins had only five crowds of more than 10,000 at Pauley Pavilion this season, when the arena reopened after a $138-million renovation.
"He's a very personable guy," Guerrero said. "When you sit down and talk with him, he's very engaging. I think he'll hit on all cylinders."
Alford's new deal with New Mexico included a $1-million buyout, according to the Albuquerque Journal. That deal was to take effect April 1. There was a $200,000 buyout in his previous contract; the UCLA deal includes a $200,000 signing bonus.
"I know it's not April 1," Alford said when asked about the buyout. "The agreement I signed starts April 1. I'm not a lawyer. I'm an Indiana graduate who likes basketball. The lawyers will get together and figure that out."
Alford's chore is shoring up the UCLA program. He will meet with UCLA assistant coaches and Guerrero has assured him that pay for assistants will be increased.
Alford said he will reach out to players. UCLA forward Shabazz Muhammad is expected to declare for the NBA draft, while center Tony Parker said he is considering whether to transfer.
Alford has already picked up one recruit. He said Bryce Alford, his son, will come to UCLA. He is a guard from Albuquerque La Cueva High.
Another player might be on the way. Alex Kirk, a 7-foot redshirt sophomore at New Mexico this season, will graduate in August and said he will consider coming to UCLA as a graduate student, according to CBSsports.com.
"UCLA does not want one winning season," Alford said. "UCLA wants a basketball program that breathes consistency every year."

North Korea says enters "state of war" against South Korea
North Korea said on Saturday it was entering a "state of war" with South Korea in a continuing escalation of angry rhetoric directed at Seoul and Washington, but the South brushed off the statement as little more than tough talk.
The two Koreas have been technically in a state of war for six decades under an armistice that ended their 1950-53 conflict. Despite its threats few people see any indication Pyongyang will risk a near-certain defeat by re-starting full-scale war.
"From this time on, the North-South relations will be entering the state of war and all issues raised between the North and the South will be handled accordingly," a statement carried by the North's official KCNA news agency said.
KCNA said the statement was issued jointly by the North's government, ruling party and other organizations.
There was no sign of unusual activity in the North's military or anything to suggest an imminent aggression, a South Korean defense ministry official said.
North Korea has been threatening to attack the South and U.S. military bases almost on a daily basis since the beginning of March, when U.S. and South Korean militaries started routine drills.
But the North has kept a joint industrial zone with the South running. The Kaesong zone is a source of hard currency for the impoverished state and hundreds of South Korean workers and vehicles enter daily after crossing the heavily armed border between the rivals.
North Korean leader Kim Jong-un on Friday signed off on an order putting its missile units on standby to attack U.S. military bases in the South and the Pacific, after the United States flew two nuclear-capable stealth bombers over the Korean peninsula in a rare show of force.
U.S. officials said the B-2 bombers were on a diplomatic sortie aimed at reassuring allies South Korea and Japan and were also aimed at trying to nudge Pyongyang back to dialogue, although there was no guarantee Kim would get the message as intended.
The South Korean government brushed off the North's latest statement on Saturday, saying there was nothing fresh in it to cause greater alarm. South Koreans went about with daily lives as they have done through March under the North's constant threat of attack.
The Unification Ministry, which handles political ties with the North, said the Kaesong industrial park was operating as normal with workers and vehicles crossing the border both says.
"North Korea's statement today … is not a new threat but is the continuation of provocative threats," a ministry statement said.
The Defence Ministry urged the North to stop issuing threats, reiterating the position that annual military drills conducted jointly with U.S. forces until the end of April were strictly defensive in nature.
The North's statement said it would respond "without mercy" to any action by the South that harmed its sovereignty, suggesting it was not about to mount a pre-emptive attack.
In 2010, North Korea bombed a South Korean island close to the maritime border that Pyongyang disputes, killing two civilians and two soldiers and prompting the South to strike back with artillery and sharply elevating tensions.
Earlier that year, a South Korean navy ship was struck by a torpedo and sank, killing 46 sailors in an incident widely blamed on the North's military although Pyongyang denies the charge.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov warned of a "vicious circle" and told all sides to avoid unilateral action.
On Thursday, the North threatened to "settle accounts" and said it had put missiles on stand-by to hit the US.The US, which flew stealth bombers over South Korea this month, condemned the North's "bellicose rhetoric".
White House spokesman Josh Earnest said the rhetoric only deepened North Korea's isolation.
North Korean state media reported leader Kim Jong-un "judged the time has come to settle accounts with the US imperialists".

Bluff has long played a fundamental role in North Korean strategy. The regime in Pyongyang needs its much more powerful neighbours and antagonists to take its threats seriously. By threatening potential chaos and war in the heart of the world's most dynamic economic region, it has in the past been able to transcend its own weakness and extract diplomatic concessions.
But the United States may be about to call North Korea's bluff. The US treasury department is taking steps to squeeze North Korea financially, and the Pentagon has flown B-52 and B-2 bombers over the Korean peninsula - moves that are guaranteed to provoke a hostile reaction.
Washington's tough stance presents Kim Jong-un with a dilemma. He wants to show his generals and the North Korean people that he can force concessions from the United States - in the same style as his father and grandfather. He could now be tempted to take brinkmanship to a new level, to try to convince the US and the region that confrontation does not work and carries too many risks.
He was said to have condemned US B-2 bomber sorties over South Korea as a "reckless phase" that represented an "ultimatum that they will ignite a nuclear war at any cost on the Korean Peninsula".
US mainland and bases in Hawaii, Guam and South Korea were all named as potential targets.
North Korea's most advanced missiles are thought to be able to reach Alaska, but not the rest of the US mainland.
'Increasing military activity'
State media in the North showed thousands of soldiers and students at a mass rally in Pyongyang supporting of Kim Jong-un's announcement.
China, North Korea's biggest trading partner, immediately reiterated its call for all sides to ease tensions.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Hong Lei told a daily news conference that "joint efforts" should be made to turn around a "tense situation".
He made similar remarks on Tuesday.
Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov went further, voicing concern that "we may simply let the situation slip out of our control and it will slide into a spiral of a vicious circle".
"We are concerned that... unilateral action is being taken around North Korea that is increasing military activity," he said.

In an earlier statement, the US military said that the B-2 stealth bombers demonstrated America's ability to "provide extended deterrence" to its allies and conduct "long-range, precision strikes quickly and at will".
"The North Koreans have to understand that what they're doing is very dangerous," US Defence Secretary Chuck Hagel told reporters on Thursday.
"We must make clear that these provocations by the North are taken by us very seriously and we'll respond to that."
The US had already flown nuclear-capable B-52 bombers over South Korea earlier this month, in what it called a response to escalating North Korean threats.
Tensions in the Korean peninsula have been high since North Korea's third nuclear test on 12 February, which led to the imposition of fresh sanctions.
North Korea has made multiple threats against both the US and South Korea in recent weeks, including warning of a "pre-emptive nuclear strike" on the US and the scrapping of the Korean War armistice.
While North Korea has issued many threats against the US and South Korea in the past, this level of sustained rhetoric is rare, observers say.
On 16 March, North Korea warned of attacks against South Korea's border islands, and advised residents to leave the islands.
Reid Flair, son of WWE star Ric Flair, dies at 25 years
Reid Flair, the 25-year-old son of WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair, died Friday, wrestlingobserver.com is reporting. Details surrounding his death are unknown at this time.
Flair's agent, Melinda Morris Zanoni, released the following statement: "We are heartbroken to confirm that Ric's son, Reid, has passed away today March 29, 2013 in Charlotte, NC. The investigation into the cause of death is ongoing. Reid was an incredible son, brother, friend, and professional wrestler. No words can describe the grief that Ric and his family are experiencing and they do request privacy during this devastating time."
According to wcnc.com, Charlotte-Mecklenburg police received a call around 10:30 a.m. ET that a man was unresponsive in a hotel room. Police identified the man as Reid Flair. Foul play is not suspected at this time.
Reid Flair had been wrestling in Japan occasionally for the last year to improve his skills in the ring. He was in the U.S. and scheduled to tour with his father this weekend.
He was expected to be signed by WWE at some point in the future, as his father has recently rejoined the company.

The event marked Aishwarya's comeback on stage post her pregnancy. The actress had not signed up any major projects after she became pregnant in 2011.
Ace choreographer Shiamak Davar confirmed the news. He tweeted, "Rehearsing with Aishwarya for Femina Miss India. Memories from when I choreographed her for Miss World. Don't miss it today."
The beauty pageant completed its 50 years and so the organisers made it a pan India event in the true sense by taking extra care in selecting girls from every corner of India. Auditions were held at Pune, Goa, Indore, Kolkata, Bangalore, Chandigarh and Delhi.
The 10 semi-finalists were Anukriti Gusain, Apurva Lonkar, Gail Nicole Da Silva, Navneet Kaur Dhillon, Sagarika Chhetri, Sobhita Dhulipala, Srishti Rana, Swati Kain, Vijaya Sharma and Zoya Afroz.
Sobhita was crowned Femina Miss Itimes Digital Diva by Karan Johar. She also won the cash prize of Rs 1 lakh.
